Just between us..

I suppose I should have titled it 'just between us, and all the other folks reading this', but it just doesn't sound as catchy. Anyway- on to my point. I've noticed you popping in now and then. And I have to admit- I'm curious about your visits. I've had to bit my fingers to keep from mentioning it any sooner. But, after seeing you here again tonight- I just can't hold back any longer... so here it goes: I adore you.. really I do. I couldn't imagine life without you- it's scary to picture email from anyone other than Gmail... and there's no way I could replace my beloved blogger. I do wish you'd update Lima a bit on Earth, but the awesomeness of Picasa makes up for it. Sometime I doodle your name in Sketch-up, other times I jot down your greatness in Docs... I've put webclips of you into my Pages... and subscribe to other blogs that adore you via Reader. I've played with everything in your Labs, and browsed Images for a glimpse of you...

Gotta love Math

For a mere $28,500 a month being paid from the pockets of the State of California, residents in a small area can now live in constant fear of their safety and worry about the place down the road that is housing 19 sex offenders. And the owner of the place can continue to cash those big checks . At 1149 E. 1st St. in Long Beach, where at the same time as many as 19 rapists and child molesters on parole have resided in an apartment building near two licensed day-care centers, the question, and its elusive answer, have become an emotionally charged issue. The state pays Mile Milivojevic who owns the rentals about $1500 per sex offender- times 19 sex offenders... he must feel like he hit the lottery. Although neighbors aren't feeling so lucky. Joe Quiniro, 49, said his wife wants to move out of the condominium they bought 3 1/2 years ago for $200,000. "I don't want to go; I love this place," he said. "But we don't want to live like prisoners in our own home....

Some mothers shouldn't be

Tina S. Day may have given birth to a child, but she was by no standards a real 'mother'. Rather than care for and cherish her child, she did what most of us would believe to be unthinkable... she offered her child to sexual deviants - for a fee. A Seymour woman has pleaded guilty to promoting prostitution after being accused of accepting money to arrange sex between male acquaintances and a preteen girl. Tina S. Day, 38, will be sentenced to the Class B felony on March 13 in Jackson Circuit Court and faces up to 20 years in prison. Day was arrested in August and charged with promoting prostitution, two counts of child molesting and one count of neglect of a dependent. The article notes that as part of a plea agreement- the molestation charges along with the neglect charge may be dismissed. And in a very related case, Jose Mendez-Romero, 35, and Sergio Urtrea-Viveros, 40 were both found guilty on charges of molesting the child and face 70 and 50 years in prison, respectively....

Run down

I couldn't pick just one thing to post this morning, and time prevents me from posting what I've been working on for now. So, I thought I'd share some quick headlines that have popped up. Man Charged With 350 Counts of Sex Abuse Against Daughter Seems a man not only physically abused his child, but he subjected them to unbelievable mental and sexual abuse too... life in prison isn't nearly enough, and I am doubtful that he'll even get that. 'U Won't Be a Virgin for Long' Sex Text Nabs School Janitor Another perv works for a school system, sending out text messages to young girls. YouTube Gets Slammed for Video Showing British Mom's Gang Rape Teens rape a woman, film it on a camera and then send it to YouTube, clearly showing that they ought to be tried as adults and sent away for the rest of their lives. British Teacher Faces Jail Time for Defamation After Exposing Pedophilia at Ethiopian Orphanage I'm just at a loss for words on this one... ...

Things I didn't think I would see...

I've talked before about Derek Kimball . He was convicted of sexually abusing a young girl over a period of time, and sentenced for those crimes. To really understand the heinous nature of his crimes, I suggest you read the link above. In a shortened story- he and a friend both sexually abused a very young girl- the conviction of the friend lead to public outcry after the judge in the case handed down a barely there sentence. Kindall's case was almost completely hushed even after his conviction... but that doesn't wipe away the horrible damage his crimes inflicted. I only mention him now, because I was thinking of the case the other night, and wanted an update on it- so I did a little searching. The results I got, well they were a little more than unsettling. It seems that Kimball has decided to enlighten the free (as in not in prison) world with a 'wanted ad' on a Inmate website . My name is Derek Kimball. I'm 5' 9" tall, brown hair, goatee, hazel eyes...

It's not really that time yet,

I know it's still pretty much winter out- there's snow still on the ground outside and it's still colder than I can stand, but it's as good of time as any to take a moment and remind people that we should all always be aware of what our children are doing. Two boys pulled from the St. Marys River near a downtown Fort Wayne apartment complex died early this morning at a Fort Wayne hospital. Indiana Conservation Officer Rodney Clear says the boys, ages 4 and 9, were pronounced dead at Parkview Hospital about five hours after they were pulled from the frigid water last night. He said the boys were unresponsive when they were found and never regained consciousness. Adding to this sad situation is that yet another child in the same area was believed to be dead after going missing, officials believe he drowned in the Elkhart River. As the weather gets warmer, we're likely to here so many more stories like these, and if even one can be prevented by doing a little more to s...
