Matthew Calek

Matthew Calek evidently thinks its cute that as he gets older, he thinks the age of the males he's attracted to might get older to. Sadly for some teenagers- his current attraction seems to be boys in their teens. Calek was sentenced to five years in prison in Iowa in 2002 after a conviction for enticing a 15-year-old boy to engage in sex. Seven months after his release from prison while still on supervised release, Calek posed as a 14-year-old named "Josh" on MySpace and befriended a Philadelphia boy, 15, who was having family problems, prosecutors said. At Josh's invitation, the boy flew to Chicago in July 2006, but Calek sexually assaulted him in a secluded area and abandoned him, the charges alleged. Three months later, Calek posed as an MTV producer and enticed a 17-year-old boy to read a script for a possible movie role, according to his plea agreement. The script had a sex scene. The boy balked at first but later agreed to engage in sex with Calek while being v...

Dr. Earl Bradley

Dr. Earl Bradley, the Delaware pediatrician police believed to have sexually abused possibly 100 children, recieves complaints about his odd behaviors for almost a decade. A decade of jokes among colleagues who hinted at the strangeness of his practice, concerns voiced to his sister who was employeed by him, and even a few investigations into his actions by police. The case has shocked the close-knit coastal community of Lewes and the central Delaware town of Milford, where he closed an office in 2005 after police investigated him. The case is even more chilling because some alleged victims are no more than 6 months old. The governor is not the only one calling for a review. The state attorney general's office also has asked for an investigation. What they are likely to find is a lot of fingerpointing, but few willing to accept much, if any, responsibility. For example, officials who oversee the Board of Medical Practice claim they never received any complaints until after the ar...

Rodney Earl Key

Rodney Earl Key was sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2001 after pleading guilty to child abuse by a parent. After being denied parole twice, it was granted and he was released in April and put "under supervision". We can only assume that the supervision didn't involve enough of the supervision that Key needed (and would have certainly found while behind bars) since he once again has been arrested for charges involving a child. Police said Rodney Earl Key, 46, was in the sanctuary at the St. James Church in the 200 block of S. Augusta Ave. with an 11-year-old girl on Jan. 3 when he put her on his lap and put her hand up her dress, records show. The girl asked Key what he was doing and he said he was "going to give her a spanking but he couldn't because she was too sweet," according to charging documents. He then told her that she was to keep the touching to themselves Source: The Baltimore Times

He seemed like a pretty nice guy, the sex offender thing just don't fit

Ted Bundy was described as charming, smart, good looking. John Wayne Gacy used to throw block parties for his neighbors and dress up like a clown. BTK was said to be efficient, friendly, and a regular nice guy. Yet they were all serial killers. Which is why it always strikes a nerve with me that people can assume serial killers can seem like "normal nice people" but sex offenders should be nasty, easy to spot creeps. Especially sex offenders who prey upon children, and need the trust of others in order to obtain a victim. Yet, once again- we've got a group of people just plain out dumbfouned that the whole "sex offender" picture they have in their head didn't match up with the "nice guy" in the neighborhood. I guess the new charges against him came as a shock... or would have if he was still live to be charged. According to arrest records, Ballance was a registered sex offender. He was convicted in 1998 of taking indecent liberties with a child an...

The Ski Mask Rapist, A new chapter?

If the name Gilbert H. Escobedo doesn't mean a lot to you, then you might want to pick out at least one of the many books that cover his reign of terror in the 80s and 90s. The man dubed "the ski mask rapist" has been mentioned in numerous books over the last few decades, and with good reason. Escobedo, confessed to 48 rapes, although many people believe that the number is closer to double that. The plight of one of his victims is unfolded in Whispers of Romance, Threats of Death by Carol Cook (who, it is worth mentioning is one of the victims of Escobedo. Just the overview of the book gives a glimpse into the truly disturbing mentality of Escobedo, despite its assumed purpose of highlighting the fight of his victim to ensure justice: After Carol Cook was raped in her Dallas home, she had trouble trusting new people. Then she met Gilbert Escobedo, a respected member of the Christian community. He became her trusted business partner, and eventually her lover. But as Carol...

Craigslist Rape

While I normally shy from all things Craigslist, and while Craigslist rapes aren't a new thing- I could not help but be horrified by this one. Police say a NC man used Craigslist to enlist another man in the rape of his wife. His wife called police early Sunday morning and said a man with a knife raped her in the bedroom of their home in Kannapolis, about 25 miles northeast of Charlotte, authorities said. Her husband was in the room, police said. Their two young children were also home, but were unaware of what was happening, authorities said. The husband sought someone in the ads to come to his home and have sex with his wife using "scare tactics," police said. It was without her knowledge or consent, police said. Authorities are still investigating the identity of the man who attacked the woman and it wasn't known if the husband paid him to do it. The woman was not seriously injured, but was treated at a hospital and released. SOURCE Sometimes, I wonder j...

Jose Carrasquillo

When neighbors of an 11 year old rape victim spotted Jose Carrasquillo, whose photo had been released by police as a "person of interest" in the brutal rape, they could have stopped and called police. Instead, the angered crowd beat him- with wooden sticks, their fists and their feet. The attack on Carrasquillo was caught on tape by a nearby camera. Jose Carrasquillo, 26, is currently in stable condition after the videotaped beating by about a dozen West Kensington residents, according to police. The mob pummeled Carrasquillo for several minutes with wooden sticks, their fists and their feet, authorities said. Click here to watch the video. He suffered head injuries and was taken to Temple University Hospital. Police said Wednesday that he has been upgraded from critical to stable condition. The 11 year old rape victim had been on her way to school when her attacker approached her, began walking with her and then claiming to have a gun dragged her into a nearby backya...

Melecio Camacho would like a public defender

Melecio Camacho, the Mexican national who was living in South Sioux City for perhaps months, who has family still back in Mexico and who was recently arrested, would like a public defender. Not for just another petty crime, but for the vicious rape and murder of a 3 year old girl. "It was an extremely vicious and brutal crime,"said South Sioux City Police chief Scot Ford. He said evidence shows that in the middle of the night, Camacho brutality raped and murdered a 3-year old girl while her parents slept. "The daughter was a victim of an extreme sexual assault," he said. Apparently Camacho knew the family. The attack took place in the home where the little girl lived with her parents, her brother and a months-old sister. Her mother discovered the crime when she woke up to take care of the baby. Ford said the suspect apparently entered the home through a window that didn't work properly, and did not wake the family inside the house. Police say, Camacho fled the h...

Kenneth Eugene Jackson

Kenneth Eugene Jackson starting abusing his two stepdaughters when they were 9 and 7. The abuse went as far as even getting the older child pregnant. Jackson had a previous conviction for sexual abuse prior to his encounters with the young girls. Thankfully, this time the judge seems to have gotten it right when sentencing this sexual predator: Dressed in a mustard-colored jailhouse uniform, Jackson avoided eye contact with family members of the victims, who were in court for Wednesday's sentencing hearing. During the emotional hearing, the victims' aunt pleaded with Judge Carol Ash to "throw the book" at Jackson, saying both girls have been through an unimaginably traumatic ordeal. The aunt said the older girl required a C-section operation to deliver her baby -- and couldn't walk across the stage for her eighth-grade graduation because she was in the hospital. "She has that scar for the rest of her life," she said. "Mentally and physically, (the v...

Jared Ravin Yaffe

Jared Ravin Yaffe has been arrested after attempting to escape charges by fleeing to Brazil. Yaffe is currently charged in connection to allegations that he paid a babysitter to molest children while he videotaped the acts. Yaffe faces 17 counts, including lewd and lascivious acts with a minor, manufacturing child pornography and procuring a child to engage in a lewd act. Would be rape turns rocky

A would be rapist got more than he was asking for when the woman he'd dragged into a wooded area by the hair fought back, hitting him in the head with a rock. State police are still looking for a man who tried to rape a 29-year-old woman who walked near some woods near her western Pennsylvania home. State police in Mercer say the woman was able to fend off the attacker by hitting him in the head with a rock. Police are still searching for the suspect. Source.

Bobby Joe Flores Has a STD

Bobby Joe Flores had gonorrhea. And so did the 1 year old child he had previously babysat. But, do to a Indiana state law that protects the privacy of people with sexually transmitted diseases, neither the Allen County Sheriff’s Department or the Fort Wayne-Allen County Health Department would allow any of their employees to testify to Flores condition, so prosecutors decided to offer him a plea deal. Since his plea hearing, however, Flores has attempted to change his guilty plea – saying he was dissatisfied with his court-appointed attorney. Surbeck took his request under advisement, but told him his odds of success were small. During Monday’s hearing, Flores again tried to get the judge to reject his guilty plea. Surbeck declined and sentenced Flores to eight years in prison, but suspended six years and ordered them to be served on probation, leaving just two years to be served. With 189 days of jail credit, Flores could be released from prison in as little as six months because Indi...

Born To Win

According to his tattoo, Fred Dilts was "Born to Win", but according to the Indiana Sex Offenders list, so far his biggest raise to fame has been a 1987 conviction for rape and evidently he's now adding a notch to his belt after disappearing with a 16 year old Amish girl. Investigators said Sara D. Troyer, 16, of Warsaw Township's Reynoldsville neighborhood, was last seen last Monday leaving Fred Dilts' house in the Aultman area of Center Township with her 18-year-old brother and another man in a car driven by Dilts, a convicted sex offender. The man returned to the house on Tuesday but Troyer remained with Dilts. On Thursday, Troyer was reported as a run away. SOURCE

Prison is cheaper

He's been convicted more than once. He's admitted to molesting more children that he's been ever been charged in connection with. And he's labeled a "sexually violent predator". But he's free, at a cost of $30,000 a month to tax payers and the safety of children everywhere. According to his neighbors, Rasmuson is living in a mobile home on the fenced acreage while repairs are being made to the house he’s renting on the land. Though the 47-year-old is employed, Rasmuson is still paying the state back for previous care and financial support, meaning taxpayers are also footing the $4,500 monthly rent on the $1.5 million property. In addition, according to the state’s Department of Mental Health, there’s an $800 daily expense for the court-ordered security detail assigned to protect him—for his safety and that of his neighbors. The current set-up is costing taxpayers close
to $30,000 a month from the state’s general funds. Seriously, read the entire article. ...

Justices Gerry Alexander, Charles Johnson, Richard Sanders, Tom Chambers, Susan Owens and Debra Stephens hate kids

Justices Gerry Alexander, Charles Johnson, Richard Sanders, Tom Chambers, Susan Owens and Debra Stephens have joined together to shine a spotlight on their true feelings for victims. And in the process, left one lone Justice to dissent on their decision while being the only one moved to uphold the idea of justice being served. Randy J. Sutherby was arrested after a five year old female relative came forward about him crawling into bed with her, and molesting her while he was on an overnight visit at her families home. Sutherby was investigated, and eventually charged with child molestation and child rape charges and unrelated child porn charges due to material found by police during a search. In the appeal at issue, Randy J. Sutherby argued that Grays Harbor County prosecutors erred by charging him with seven counts of possession of child pornography while consolidating that case with child molestation and child rape charges related to an alleged assault on a 5-year-old girl. Six of ...

Corey Deen Saunders gets life

Corey Deen Saunders, the convicted sex offender who police say lured a 6 year old boy into a bathroom in a library and raped him in 2008 was sentenced to life in prison. Just don't release that sign of relief just yet. It turns out Saunders, who is 27 will be eligible for parole in just 15 years. The very fact that this latest attack could have been prevented only serves to make the story more disturbing. Saunders was released from prison in December 2006, despite objections from prosecutors and three psychologists who said he was too dangerous to be let out. He is a Level 3 sex offender, a designation given to those believed most likely to re-offend. The case reignited debate over a civil commitment law that allows prosecutors to request that sexual offenders be locked up indefinitely after completing their prison terms. Prosecutors sought to have Saunders committed after he served his term. But a judge rejected the request, citing Saunders' history of being sexually abused a...

Stephen E. Quick and Samantha Light,

I've mentioned before that I believe some people should be banned from being around the rest of society... especially children. Now, thanks to a reader tip- I have the perfect example of two folks who fit that description: Stephen E. Quick and his girlfriend Samantha Light. It seems Fountain County law enforcement officials began investigating the two after a young girl that had been left in their care made extremely unsettling comments to her mother about activities Quick and Light were engaging in. a young girl told her mother that the couple had touched her inappropriately and photographed her while she was being baby-sat at their home on Feb. 28. "I asked her if they were just helping her in the bathroom and she said, 'No mommy, they took pictures," the girl's mother, who wanted to remain anonymous, After obtaining a search warrant, police found evidence hinting at how depraved these two were: They also found a videotape that showed several sexual acts involvi...

I knew everything in Texas was bigger....

For years, I've heard the bragging from Texans about how *everything* in Texas is bigger- regardless of what it is. And, I'm amazed to say that evidently there is something to that little rumor. Everyone has sex offenders, and everyone has creepy demented bastards- but following Texas's claim to fame- it turns out that their very own Thomas Louis Van-Hook is a bigger freak than most. Thomas Louis Van-Hook, a registered sex offender convicted of exposing himself to small children has a history of enlightening people about his disturbing criminal intentions. Take for instance when he decided to write to P&G, the makers of Huggies Diapers about his thoughts on their product ads. The Examiner also obtained a copy of a letter that Van-Hook wrote in 2004 to the Procter & Gamble Company, the makers of Pampers Diapers, where he requested that the company do more to show the genital areas of children. The head of corporate security for Procter & Gamble sent the let...

AMW, US Marshals go after molester

Both America's Most Wanted, and the US Marshals have set their eyes on Frederick McLean... an alleged child molester from San Diego who they believe victimized numerous children over a 20 year span. The 57 year old former car restorer and avid outdoorsman was first investigated in 2004 when a member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses went to police and reported that he'd sexually abused her as a child. Police say that McLean left town in a small dark-colored pickup truck, but that he also may have a 1955 Chevy hot rod, which could possibly still be in a storage unit if he hasn't sold it by now. Authorities maintain that he may have changed his physical appearance and purchased a new set of identity documents. He is also believed to have armed himself with a gun. Police say that McLean could still be in north San Diego County or Riverside County areas. They also speculate that given his extensive outdoor experience he could also be in the Cuyamaca Mounta...

Robert Musmacker

Robert Musmacker doesn't care that he was engaging in illegal activity with minors, he doesn't care that he was already a registered sexual offender prior to his most recent arrest- and evidently the demented predator doesn't care that his reckless behavior could easily cost the lives of his victims. Musmacker was required to register as a Level 3 sex offender under Megan's Law because of a 1992 sodomy conviction involving a 6-year-old relative, said a spokesman for Spota. He was released from prison in January 2001. He was stopped by a state trooper on the Southern State Parkway in West Babylon at about 6 a.m. on Dec. 28 with the 16-year-old, who was not identified, in the passenger seat. The trooper noticed that Musmacker's belt was undone, authorities said. Musmacker possessed AIDS medication, which he said was for treatment of "full blown AIDS," the prosecutor said. He also advised the officer he was taking antibiotics to treat an open lesion in ...
