David, The Devaint Years

This is the fourth part of a mini series on the life of David Alway. Please read the previous posts if you haven't yet: David, The Early Years David, The Failure Years (Part II) David, The Pained Years Having gotten to know a little more about David, his upbringing and his life in the previous posts, we're all left with a lingering question: Just who is David Alway, and what has become of him? David's upbringing, including his time at faith based schools had been an attempt to instill finer beliefs in his heart- to help shape him into a productive and well adjusted member of society. A love for God, even a love for country. His parents encouraged him to be a "good person", to do the right things, to strive for success. But David had other plans, and so after his failures, after his bankruptcy ( more , more , more ), after disowning the family that had loved him since he was a little boy, after the ruin of his marriage, after the failure of his business - he opt...

David, The Pained Years

(this is the third, long overdue part of a mini series, part one and part two should be read first) David Alway grew up in a religious home, after being adopted by a faithfully devout family. He had two sisters, both of whom were also adopted. His parents sent the children to faith based schools, most likely in an attempt to instill a sense of moral and religious values in them. But even the most faithful will be tempted and tormented- and even the most faithful will suffer the loss of one they love. David's family had befriended an older man, who had become like a grandfather to the children. They had met the man through their church, and instantly befriended him. They trusted him, and the young children felt the love that they had for him was equally returned- he filled the void created by their own grandparents living so far away from them. Despite the warm embrace given to the man by the family, despite the trust and love they had for him- the relationship turned horrific a...

David, The Failure Years (Part II)

(This is the second installment of a mini series of posts, the next installment will appear soon. Previous Post Here .) After changing his name, under the guise of "finding himself", David Alway could easily forget the family that had raised him, the values that his schooling had taught him and be free to investigate the world. An entire world, completely open to possibilities... In early 1992, David was living at 171 St Botolph St, in Boston, Massachusetts. It was here that his troubles really began. He was living in debt, owning money to numerous businesses. His credit was hurting, with outstanding debts with everyone from American Express to Discover Card. He had outstanding taxes due to the State, and medical bills coming in from as far as California. David, did the only reasonable thing for a man like him- he filed bankruptcy- begging the court to grant him pardons on his bills. Later in his life, he'd learn to make good use of his need for handouts. As bad as Da...

David, The Early Years

(This is the first installment of a mini series of posts, the next installment will appear soon.) In October of 1968, little David Alway was born, although his adoptive parents wouldn't marry until two years later- leaving questions as to just when David came to be in the deeply religious, Californian family. David spent most of his childhood attending Redwood Christian School (aka RCS). From first until 11th grade, he learned the very principals of RCS: To instill PURE MORALS in the heart of the student by: 1. Development of an appreciation for the values accrued from our past spiritual and cultural heritage. (Psalm 61:5) 2. Inculcation of the desire to choose right over wrong and to hold to one's convictions under pressure. (Daniel 1:8) IV. To generate a SPIRIT OF PATRIOTISM by teaching: 1. Loyalty to our country and a recognition of unscriptural teachings which undermine our country's foundations. (I Peter 2:13-17) 2. Recognition of government as God-ordained. (Romans 13...
