COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The rape of an 11-year-old runaway has resulted in a
120-year prison sentence for a Colorado Springs businessman.

Bruce
Graham Sams, 41, was sentenced Thursday after a jury found him guilty of two
counts of sexual assault on a child, two counts of exploitation of a child and
one count of pattern of sexual assault on a child.

A judge ruled that
Sams is a habitual criminal after prosecutors presented evidence that he has
prior felony convictions for forgery, selling unregistered securities and
interstate transportation of stolen property.

A jury found Sams guilty
last July of kidnapping and repeatedly raping a girl who had run away from a
center for troubled children. The assaults were videotaped by three women Sams
was with at the time, according to trial testimony. The rapes occurred in
December 2003.

A second case against Sams, involving the alleged sexual
assault of another girl eight years ago, was dismissed Thursday after Sams was
sentenced.

Sams also was accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting
another girl in 1996 or 1997, when the girl was about 11. That girl contacted
investigators after learning about Sams’ 2003 arrest.

Sams' father, who
was in court for the sentencing, refused to believe his son was guilty.

According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, David Sams got into a verbal
confrontation with the mother of the rape victim.

"You need to repent of
your your sins," the paper quoted David Sams as telling the woman in a hallway
outside the courtroom. Deputies escorted him from the building.
