Myspace... the "How To"

I'd been asked a lot about exactly how Myspace works. And although I could navigate it with my eyes closed, so to say... I often find it a bit more difficult to explain to people, just because I'm used to doing it rather than having to explain how to do it. The good news is that MSNBC has posted a "MySpace How To" which does a great job of explaining the community and giving instructions on how to navigate it.

For those parents who are interested in seeing just what is going on there... I can't encourage you more to take a look at the How To.

This is a great link - the report about the three girls and their MySpace accounts was incredible - it should be MUST viewing for all parents of teens. I didn't know this was up there - thanks a bunch for posting this!

I've decided we need a visual image for the internet.
The internet is a lot like river where you go white water rafting. It is fast, fun, and even useful and educational. And especially the edges can be very fun. But there are deep, dark, fast and dangerous waters there also. And just like most parents wouldn't send their children white water rafting without supervision, they should also be supervising internet usage.

If your kids have Myspace accounts, you might want to check out this page it's from MSNBC and it contains a fake profile to help you get an idea of what shouldn't been available on the site. Sort of a "don't do this".

He loves me, he loves me not, oh what the heck he loves me...

It seems to resemble a bit of a 3rd grade crush. Mag said first grade ... but it's really less annoying that having my ponytail pulled. He loves me... after all, he keeps linking to me . He loves me not... evidently that's why he uses my comments out of context and twists my words... he loves me, because clearly he likes to "poke the bear" (That 70's Show quote). Yes, I just referred to myself as a bear. A lot less hairy, but no less scary. Because anyone that thinks you should be locked up for the rest of your life is indeed scary. Especially when she likes to go around telling everyone how demented you are... and how she'd like to see you locked up forever. And even more scary when you know that it's the truth she speaks. And Lindsay, he is demented. And he should be locked up forever. And, well it seems that he is a fan of mine. Yep, that sick lil monkey can't help himself. He reads this here blog (which is a hint that you should share your thoughts...

Mom Arrested After Baby Found Mauled By Dogs

This is a story that I really don't want to share, it angers me all the while breaking my heart at how someone could be so cold and callous. My only comment is that there is always a better way. Some may of thought of going to the hospital, others may have thought about calling someone- anyone for help. But the complete disregard this person showed is horrifing. PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Investigators said the badly-mauled body of a newborn infant was found Tuesday afternoon on the banks of the Ohio River. The next day, the baby's 21-year-old mother was arrested after admitting to a hidden pregnancy. The mother told investigators that the baby was still-born at home. She said she panicked and disposed of the baby boy a few miles from her home, NBC 4's Erin Tate reported. The investigation began after authorities received a 911 call from a frantic mother. Dispatcher: "911, what's your emergency?" Caller: "My kids were just outside, telling me that the dog was ch...
