David Alway grew up in a religious home, after being adopted by a faithfully devout family. He had two sisters, both of whom were also adopted. His parents sent the children to faith based schools, most likely in an attempt to instill a sense of moral and religious values in them. But even the most faithful will be tempted and tormented- and even the most faithful will suffer the loss of one they love.
David's family had befriended an older man, who had become like a grandfather to the children. They had met the man through their church, and instantly befriended him. They trusted him, and the young children felt the love that they had for him was equally returned- he filled the void created by their own grandparents living so far away from them. Despite the warm embrace given to the man by the family, despite the trust and love they had for him- the relationship turned horrific and came close to resulting in destroying the family.
The youngest of the three children ended up being molested by the man, and shortly after yet another attempt to molest her, she was able to find the courage to confide in her parents about it. The pain of being betrayed effected the entire family, and while their faith might have been tested at that moment, she credits God with working her through it- although she readily admits that still to this day she deals with the pain that was put upon her when she was victimized.
To this day, the entire Alway family is very devoted to their faith- members of the family still work at their church, one even spent time doing missionary work with children in need.
The families faith brought them through hard times, and helped them to deal with the sad experiences that life handed out to them. But, little would prepare them for the challenge young David would put them through as he grew older.
David had gotten married, and even had a child of his own, a sweet little girl. But, just like in all the good novels- David had a darker side, one that he wasn't quite ready to deal with. His marriage only lasted a short time, he'd changed his name and filed chapter 11 before heading overseas to see what life had in store for him. But, while cutting ties to those here- his wife, his friends, his former school... David was also preparing for his dark side to come out. To announce to the world his own deviance- regardless of the effect it would have on those who'd known him since he'd been that innocent little boy they brought home and raised as their own.
David Alway, once a adopted son in a highly religious family attending a faith based school in California had turned almost hopeless the sexual abuse of his sister when he was just a teen, not to mention the loss of his marriage as an adult, his credit ruined due to outstanding bills and bankruptcy, his attempt at a new life overseas in the business world shot down cold with the crumbling of his business...
Just what was he to do?
