Kelsey Smith Briggs

The father of the two year old little girl that was killed by her stepfather just hours before he returned home from Iraq has requested copies of the state child welfare workers records from before her death. The step father Michael Ported is being held in jail on first degree murder charges with bail set at $1 million. He has a hearing on Jan 6th.
A medical examiner concluded that the two year old died from blunt force trauma and may have been kneed, punched or squeezed.

There should not be any reason as to why the father should not be able to have copies of those records. That is the least that they should do for him. Don't you think that he at least deserves that?

I completely believe that this man should have full access to everything that involves his daughter.
I also believe he and the fine men from his unit should be allowed to be left in a room alone with the stepfather for an unlimited amount of time.
This case is horrifing, my sympathy goes out to those innocent people effected by it.

My question after reading everything is can these injuries be caused as the step father stated by giving CPR to a child? It seems that there were several suspects of the abuse as indicated in several different articles, including the dad's mother. Will we ever know what happened, I doubt it. I greive for the child leaving this world too early in life.

As a member of the family, the only reason the dad's mother was accused was because the mom & stepdad needed someone to blame to cover up for themselves. There is so much more to this story that you will never see in print. The mom lied during thier divorce by stating she was not pregnant with Kelsey. What does that tell you about her character.

My wife and I have been through
a similar fight over our grand-
daughter. The court gave her back to her mother.
We were told there wasn't anything we could do,until she
ended up molested or dead.

If Judge Key and the DHS had worked together in behalf of Kelsey's protection, this little girls horrible death would have never happened. The mother and father should have been put in jail long ago on child abuse.

I have been reading this story and it disgust me to think that they would call it neglect on the mothers part. I would charge the mother with murder!!! She had to have seen the bruises and if she honestly did not know where they came from than she did not pay enough attention to her child. Shame on her and shame on anyone else that would just suspect the step father. As a mother myself there is nothing a child of two could do so wrong to deserve what she went through. I believe they should do that to the mother and let her see what Kelsey felt like and then trow her in jail with a cell covered in pictures of her little girl through her dying days so she can reflect on that until she goes crazy!! The stepfather should rott also. As far as the DHS goes I have once delt with you myself, and let me tell you there is no way you should have even remotely given her a chance with anger management. I never hit, or put my child in any way. I just try to get away from my abusive husband and you took my child away and forced me to sign adoptive papers, shame on you too. I have no respect for any means you guys have in a persons life. You do more damage than anything. You are there to protect the child so explain what really happened.

Why is everyone blaming DHS? Google the records online and actually take time to read them. Most of the time, DHS recommended that custody be placed with them so that they may protect. It is the Judge, the Guardian ad Litem, and the CASA worker that you should be angry with!

I was reading the illegal immigrant news this morning... you know, all about the Spanish National anthem... and all about their big rally May 2... and I started thinking.
