He was at their wedding...

I get so tired of people saying that it's not a brutal crime, that it's not destructive, because so few of them realise the extent that the abuse reaches, how far it spreads causing pain and grief to so many.

When a child is sexually abused, it effects their parents, their siblings, their relationships with other adults, their friendships with their playmates... and later in life the people they date or marry... even their children.

This is a prime example of how the molestation of a child can effect a parent, and victim impact statements are so important:
The presiding judge in the case, Judge Karen Conrad, said she considered the impact of the crime on the victim’s family when she decided his sentence.

"The betrayal they felt,” Conrad told Snyder at his sentencing, referring to the victim’s family. “Her statement that she had to destroy wedding album pictures because you were in their wedding 18 years ago. Her husband's statement that I should not believe anything you say because you're a liar, even though you describe yourself as his former best friend."

John Snyder had most likely thought he was only molesting and raping a child. Not that that bothered him in any way. And he would never have stopped to look past his own actions enough to see what the outcome of his demented actions would have- not only on his victim but on the very people he considered his best friends.

The Senate Judiciary Committee gave quick, unanimous approval to Hatch's bill Thursday, clearing its way for consideration by the full Senate. But Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., said he plans to try to attach language to a bill that would require tougher sentences, provide federal assistance and offer grants to prosecute hate crimes - those motivated by hatred for a race, religion, gender or sexual orientation. The White ...

Boyfriends...

I sometimes wonder if certain men have some sort of animal DNA breed into them. The type of DNA or whatever it is that makes animals ritually preform certain actions. Like lions, when a male lion takes over a pride it'll often kill the offspring of the previous male, before mating with the female lions and creating cubs of it's own. I only wonder this, because it seems like there are an overwhelming number of men out there that end up killing the children of their girlfriends, not all of them do- but on a case by case comparison between girlfriends killing their boyfriends offspring and boyfriends doing it, it just seems that it's a lot more common amoung men. NOT THAT ALL OF THEM DO THIS... there are some great boyfriends/stepfathers out there that actually take care of kids as if they are their own... but then we have cases like Christopher Thunborg and Kashon Scott. Thunborg was babysitting his girlfriend's 11 month of baby in March when police say he caused ...
