What's on AMW

America's Most Wanted has always done an excellent job informing the public about some of our worst wanted criminals. And, I've always liked the show for that- and I've always found myself interested in the cases they carry. This week however, I'll be even more interested... because one of the many cases they are covering has a few connections to my hometown.

A year and a half ago I brought you the case of Alfredo Lopez-Cruz, an illegal alien who was residing in Hamilton Ohio. Police say that he lured a 9 year old neighbor into him home and raped her. The girl was able to escape when this scum bag fell asleep. Lopez-Cruz evaded police, fleeing the area. The home he attacked the girl in was later burned down, by angered people.

This predators story should have ended in Hamilton, but because he was able to escape capture, he actually showed up Lima. As if we need another demented child raping piece of trash in my town. Sadly, he evaded police here too... and is still roaming free. Police believe he is still in Ohio, where he has many contacts.

This week, AMW will be airing this case again, and personally- I'm hoping this is their next captured mark on their wall. To read more on this, visit AMW's write up on it. And be sure to watch this weekend's episode.

Other cases that will be featured on AMW this week:

Boston, Massachusetts…ARNOLD GABIDDON...In Boston, cops say Arnold Gabiddon brutally attacked a woman, stabbing her several times before cutting her throat. She barely survived. He has a scar on his forehead and may still be in Massachusetts.

Southern, California…RICK MCLEAN…Cops say that for years, Frederick "Rick" McLean, used his position in the Jehovah's Witnesses to hide a lengthy history of child molestation. Authorities tell AMW that when one family finally went to the police, McLean made a fast get-away with a small fortune of cash that he secretly had stashed away. Now, McLean's been added to the US Marshal's '15 Most Wanted List' and investigators hope that he'll soon be behind bars.

Silver City, New Mexico
…UNKNOWN TIM EDWARDS KILLER… Just one visit to Montana Del Oso Ranch in New Mexico and Tim Edwards knew he had found a place to retire. Captivated by the scenery and sunsets, Tim and his wife Lynn moved to the ranch from Arizona. But the mountain paradise was hiding a deadly secret that the Edwards would soon discover – leaving Tim dead and cops looking for answers.

For more information on these cases, and others- be sure to tune into Fox's America's Most Wanted this Saturday at 9:00pm or stop by their website at AMW.com

Verifiable or provable by means of observation or experiment: empirical laws. Guided by practical experience and not theory, especially in medicine Kennedy hate crimes rider may doom Hatch's sex offender bill By Robert Gehrke The Salt Lake Tribune WASHINGTON - A fight over federal hate crimes legislation could torpedo Sen. Orrin Hatch's push to strengthen the nation's sex-offender registries and clamp down on sex crimes. The Senate Judiciary Committee gave quick, unanimous approval to Hatch's bill Thursday, clearing its way for consideration by the full Senate. But Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., said he plans to try to attach language to a bill that would require tougher sentences, provide federal assistance and offer grants to prosecute hate crimes - those motivated by hatred for a race, religion, gender or sexual orientation. The White ...

Florida Sex Offender Registry

Reading the news today, I was taken back to see that the Florida Sex Offender registry was being criticized. Having had the chance to look at it previously, I had always found it rather informative, and well organized. The issue that many are having with it now wouldn't be noticed by the occasional browser on the site. Which makes it even worse. A review of the FSR has found some rather unsettling statistics: The News-Press analyzed the Florida Department of Law Enforcement database of 36,306 sex offenders and found: • 9,205 of them are incarcerated • 7,037 have run away or can't be found • 824 have been deported; and • 516 are dead. Of the 15,573 sex offenders listed as released and not on parole or probation, only 11,355 of those actually live in Florida. Sex offender registries can only be usefully, and only fully do what they where designed to do when they are updated, maintained and monitored continuously. When you are relying on the SO registries to monitors how safe your...
