Parents who shouldn't be...

Some people ought to have not been parents. I say that, not because the lack the basic ability to be a parent- but because they are just naturally terrible people. Some of these people shouldn't have pets, let alone kids.

Take for instance, Christine Cole, 32 and her sister Judy Chamberlain, 33. Both were recently charged with second-degree cruelty to a child. I'm not sure why they didn't get slapped with neglect, endangerment, and just plain being stupid.

The mother and aunt of a legally blind 10-year-old boy were booked on cruelty charges after briefly leaving him on the side of a highway because he was misbehaving, a sheriff's spokesman said.

A driver reported seeing someone pick up a child from the side of Interstate 12 on Wednesday about 40 miles east of Baton Rouge and put him in a van. Authorities feared they were dealing with a kidnapping, said Jason Ard, the Livingston Parish sheriff's spokesman.

Investigators found the boy had actually been dropped off as punishment. The van traveled a short distance down the highway before the mother got out and retrieved him, Ard said. It was unclear exactly how long the child was out of the car but Ard said Friday it was probably only a few minutes.

Legally blind? First off, most people wouldn't leave any child on the side of a HIGHWAY, let alone one that is seeing impaired. WFT? My solution to this is simple, blind fold both these animals, and leave them in the middle of the highway.

Then we have yet another loser, Johnnie Jerome Kerns, 29 of Springfield Mo. This asshat was mad at his estranged wife. Rather than just yelling at her, or getting over it- he decided that the WORST thing he could do was the way to deal with his obvious anger issues:

Kerns picked up the woman's five year old daughter, tied a car tire to the little girl and tossed her off a bridge into a cold lake.

A man was sentenced Friday to 70 years in prison for tossing a 5-year-old girl off a bridge into a cold lake to terrorize his estranged wife.

Johnnie Jerome Kerns, 29, received consecutive terms for five felonies, including kidnapping, child abuse and assault.

Kerns was arrested last September shortly after two fishermen pulled the girl to safety. They had heard what sounded like a child being thrown from a bridge and then a vehicle speeding off.

I suppose we could say that since Kerns isn't the child's real father, then it doesn't count. But, if he was married to her mother, then he had some sort of parent-like role in the child's life... and should be barred from ever having children of his own, or dating someone that has children.

Next up is Christine Hutchinson, 22, of Pittsburgh:
Officers got a tip from someone who knew Hutchinson that there was "possibly a baby that was dead and was in a freezer in an apartment in Bloomfield," a working-class neighborhood several miles east of downtown, Pittsburgh police Cmdr. Thomas Stangrecki said.

Detectives found what initially appeared to be a late-term fetus in a brown bag in the freezer, police said, though it wasn't immediately clear whether the remains resulted from a miscarriage, late-term abortion or a death shortly after birth.

Sorry, but that's just sick, and clearly evident of someone who has some serious isses.

Verifiable or provable by means of observation or experiment: empirical laws. Guided by practical experience and not theory, especially in medicine Kennedy hate crimes rider may doom Hatch's sex offender bill By Robert Gehrke The Salt Lake Tribune WASHINGTON - A fight over federal hate crimes legislation could torpedo Sen. Orrin Hatch's push to strengthen the nation's sex-offender registries and clamp down on sex crimes. The Senate Judiciary Committee gave quick, unanimous approval to Hatch's bill Thursday, clearing its way for consideration by the full Senate. But Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., said he plans to try to attach language to a bill that would require tougher sentences, provide federal assistance and offer grants to prosecute hate crimes - those motivated by hatred for a race, religion, gender or sexual orientation. Florida Sex Offender Registry

Reading the news today, I was taken back to see that the Florida Sex Offender registry was being criticized. Having had the chance to look at it previously, I had always found it rather informative, and well organized. The issue that many are having with it now wouldn't be noticed by the occasional browser on the site. Which makes it even worse. A review of the FSR has found some rather unsettling statistics: The News-Press analyzed the Florida Department of Law Enforcement database of 36,306 sex offenders and found: • 9,205 of them are incarcerated • 7,037 have run away or can't be found • 824 have been deported; and • 516 are dead. Of the 15,573 sex offenders listed as released and not on parole or probation, only 11,355 of those actually live in Florida. Sex offender registries can only be usefully, and only fully do what they where designed to do when they are updated, maintained and monitored continuously. When you are relying on the SO registries to monitors how safe your...
