Coming Up On AMW

This week, America's Most Wanted will be covering the following cases:

Tempe, Arizona…PAUL EISCHEID UPDATE…The ATF and police in Tempe, Arizona have charged outlaw biker Paul Eischeid with an act of savagery in the desert. Now, they need your help to get their hands on him.

Deer Park, New York; Cranston, Rhode Island; and Chicopee, Massachusetts…UNKNOWN EAST COAST BANDITS…First, it was a bank in Chicopee, Massachusetts; then, Cranston, Rhode Island. Now, the FBI says the same group of thugs has robbed a bank on New York's Long Island. Investigators say these guys are dangerous -- and they're wielding some big weapons.

Sturgis, South Dakota…OPERATION FALCON 2007…AMERICA’S MOST WANTED teams up with the U.S. Marshals Tasks Force for Operation FALCON; a nationwide fugitive apprehension operation. Over the course of its history, Operation FALCON has captured more than 30,000 fugitives during three total weeks. This year, John Walsh rides along with South Dakota police as they wage war against outlaw motorcycle gangs.

Raleigh, North Carolina; Guilderland, New York; Boston, Massachusetts…CARL DINATALE CAPTURE…Police say Carl Dinatale isn't the most creative felon who has allegedly robbed dozens of jewelry stores all along the East Coast. But, thanks to great police work and some help from AMW, the crooked thief is behind bars.

Tulsa, Oklahoma…VINCENT LEDOUX CAPTURE…For ten years, Vincent Ledoux was able to hide out and make a new life for himself. But thanks to an AMW viewer, the accused sexual predator is in custody, and AMW was there for the takedown.

Portales, New Mexico…RAYMOND GATES CAPTURE…With the help of an AMW tipster, Raymond Gates is finally in police custody. New Mexico cops collaborated with the U.S. Marshals in Texas to take down the wanted sex offender on June 26, 2007, making him direct capture #950.

Miami Beach, Florida…JOSE PEREZ…Ingrid Perez has a powerful story to tell. She longs to bring to justice the man who she says took her innocence away and the man cops say sexually assaulted her.

Raleigh, North Carolina…UNKNOWN JENNA NIELSEN KILLER UPDATE…Raleigh police are still on the hunt for the murderer of Jenna Nielsen, an 8-months-pregnant mother of two. An autopsy report has confirmed that Jenna had a deep, single stab wound to her neck which ruptured her jugular artery. The report also states that she was found partially undressed, but police say a rape kit showed no other signs of sexual assault.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin…ARTHUR LOPEZ…U.S. Marshals in Milwaukee hadn't heard from Arthur Lopez since they say he went on the run to dodge murder and cocaine charges in 2001. That is, until he was profiled on AMW -- then cops say he decided he would call to taunt the investigators searching for him.

Fairborn, Ohio…CHI DU…When a jealous ex spotted his former girlfriend with another man, he decided that if he couldn't have her, then no one would. Police say a brutal attack soon followed, and Chi Du left two stunned victims behind.

Easton, Pennsylvania…STANLEY OBAS…Cops in Pennsylvania are trying to track down a man accused of torturing and murdering a 13-year-old girl, then burying her body in a cemetery.

You can catch AMW at 9pm on your local Fox station, on Saturday Nights. You can also visit their website, for more information on these cases, and others.

Guided by practical experience and not theory, especially in medicine Kennedy hate crimes rider may doom Hatch's sex offender bill By Robert Gehrke The Salt Lake Tribune WASHINGTON - A fight over federal hate crimes legislation could torpedo Sen. Orrin Hatch's push to strengthen the nation's sex-offender registries and clamp down on sex crimes. The Senate Judiciary Committee gave quick, unanimous approval to Hatch's bill Thursday, clearing its way for consideration by the full Senate. But Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., said he plans to try to attach language to a bill that would require tougher sentences, provide federal assistance and offer grants to prosecute hate crimes - those motivated by hatred for a race, religion, gender or sexual orientation. Florida Sex Offender Registry

Reading the news today, I was taken back to see that the Florida Sex Offender registry was being criticized. Having had the chance to look at it previously, I had always found it rather informative, and well organized. The issue that many are having with it now wouldn't be noticed by the occasional browser on the site. Which makes it even worse. A review of the FSR has found some rather unsettling statistics: The News-Press analyzed the Florida Department of Law Enforcement database of 36,306 sex offenders and found: • 9,205 of them are incarcerated • 7,037 have run away or can't be found • 824 have been deported; and • 516 are dead. Of the 15,573 sex offenders listed as released and not on parole or probation, only 11,355 of those actually live in Florida. Sex offender registries can only be usefully, and only fully do what they where designed to do when they are updated, maintained and monitored continuously. When you are relying on the SO registries to monitors how safe your...
