Today, In Sex Offender News

As shocking as it may be (and I say that with complete sarcasm)it seems that a ever growing number of sex offenders are making headlines across the US lately. Rather than break them down and write about them case by case, I've opted to be lazy tonight and just offer you a quick list to browse through:

Gregory Turner, 44, has been arrested after a six year old girl told her father that the registered sexual offender "kissed her genital area". He was released from the Oxford County Jail after posting $50,000 bail.

Larry David Lee Jr., 33 is headed back to court (and hopefully prison for a very long time) after charged with first degree rape, lewd molestation, and forcible oral sodomy in regards to his assault against a seven year old girl. He had previously been convicted of second degree rape on March 22, 2000 he received 3 years suspended with 3 months in jail.

Patrick Leno has been charged with felony gross sexual imposition after allegedly assaulting a 3 year old girl. He has a previous 2002 conviction for indecent exposure for exposing himself to a 4-year-old girl while working at a McDonald's. He was out on bond during the most recent incident, a ($5,000 bond in the case) which involves a 3-year-old and a 6-year-old ans child sexual abuse.

Oscar Rivera, 30, is being held on $250,000 bond after allegedly breaking into a house and sexually assaulting a teenage girl at knife point. He's charged with aggravated first-degree sexual assault, first-degree burglary, first-degree unlawful restraint, risk of injury to children and threatening. His previous crimes include second-degree burglary and fourth-degree sexual assault. He served TWO whopping years.

Michael Gordon, 23 has been charged with charged with felony sexual assault and corruption or solicitation of minors, and misdemeanor failure to register as a sex offender. He also has a criminal history with sexual offenses.

Of course, I suppose it could be worse. Our prison system could have given these monsters Viagra, like the system in the UK did for Francis Evrard, 61:

The case of Francis Evrard, 61, who was arrested last week after kidnapping a five-year-old boy, stirred outrage because of the circumstances of his release from prison last month after serving 18 years for child rape.

Among these were that Evrard was given Viagra, the anti-impotence drug, by two doctors shortly before he left the prison in the Normandy city of Caen. He had also collected paedophile pictures and talked to prison officers in crude language about his continuing attraction to children just before his release, Le Figaro reported.

Hat tip to Lisa on that last one.

He loves me, he loves me not, oh what the heck he loves me...

It seems to resemble a bit of a 3rd grade crush. Mag said first grade ... but it's really less annoying that having my ponytail pulled. He loves me... after all, he keeps linking to me . He loves me not... evidently that's why he uses my comments out of context and twists my words... he loves me, because clearly he likes to "poke the bear" (That 70's Show quote). Yes, I just referred to myself as a bear. A lot less hairy, but no less scary. Because anyone that thinks you should be locked up for the rest of your life is indeed scary. Especially when she likes to go around telling everyone how demented you are... and how she'd like to see you locked up forever. And even more scary when you know that it's the truth she speaks. And Lindsay, he is demented. And he should be locked up forever. And, well it seems that he is a fan of mine. Yep, that sick lil monkey can't help himself. He reads this here blog (which is a hint that you should share your thoughts...

Florida Sex Offender Registry

Reading the news today, I was taken back to see that the Florida Sex Offender registry was being criticized. Having had the chance to look at it previously, I had always found it rather informative, and well organized. The issue that many are having with it now wouldn't be noticed by the occasional browser on the site. Which makes it even worse. A review of the FSR has found some rather unsettling statistics: The News-Press analyzed the Florida Department of Law Enforcement database of 36,306 sex offenders and found: • 9,205 of them are incarcerated • 7,037 have run away or can't be found • 824 have been deported; and • 516 are dead. Of the 15,573 sex offenders listed as released and not on parole or probation, only 11,355 of those actually live in Florida. Sex offender registries can only be usefully, and only fully do what they where designed to do when they are updated, maintained and monitored continuously. When you are relying on the SO registries to monitors how safe your...
