Calling it what it is

More than once, I've found myself dumbfounded by the news media's journalistic endeavor to "lessen the blow" of a story by sweetening it up with the exclusion of the correct terms. They'll gladly substitute "sexual relationship with a child under 13" for "raped a child under 13". A baby had deliberately become a "fetus". Someone died, when really they were murdered. I know, it's a play on words. And yet I have a problem with it. It not only dumbs down the story- but it makes it easier to swallow. We lose a bit of the nature of the crime, we become a little less sensitive to what really happened. And, with crime- that should never be the case.

I wasn't going to comment on the David Copperfield rape allegations. Because, others already have- and they've done of good job of it.

Really. I wasn't going to touch it.

And then I read this line:

"The cancellations came after FBI agents conducted searches in Las Vegas last week following allegations that Copperfield "forced himself" on an unidentified woman."

Forced himself?

Really?

That's how the major news media is now beating around the bush to avoid saying rape?

Do we really have to tone down what the allegation alleges? I mean, we can still read between the lines- we know what it's really saying... so why not just come out and say it?

Has it become that unPC AGAIN to just say the word?

He loves me, he loves me not, oh what the heck he loves me...

It seems to resemble a bit of a 3rd grade crush. Mag said first grade ... but it's really less annoying that having my ponytail pulled. He loves me... after all, he keeps linking to me . He loves me not... evidently that's why he uses my comments out of context and twists my words... he loves me, because clearly he likes to "poke the bear" (That 70's Show quote). Yes, I just referred to myself as a bear. A lot less hairy, but no less scary. Because anyone that thinks you should be locked up for the rest of your life is indeed scary. Especially when she likes to go around telling everyone how demented you are... and how she'd like to see you locked up forever. And even more scary when you know that it's the truth she speaks. And Lindsay, he is demented. And he should be locked up forever. And, well it seems that he is a fan of mine. Yep, that sick lil monkey can't help himself. He reads this here blog (which is a hint that you should share your thoughts...

Linsi E. Light

When it came on the news last night, there was very little information. Even today, although there is more coming out- there still is a rather chilling "quietness" in the details of the case. You must understand, my home town is rather small. Murders front page news. So when the second murder of the year was shuffled into the mid section of the paper this morning, without so much as a name for the victim, it seemed- well it seemed odd. It wasn't until this evening that one (out of two) local TV news stations picked it up enough for it to hit their website. What I have been able to compile so far, is that at some time last night, Lima Police received a call about a gun being shot. They arrived at 1212 Bellefontaine Ave, on the east side of Lima to find a 19 year old OSU student dead. The young woman would be identified as Linsi E. Light, a first year OSU Lima student from Montpelier Ohio , a small Ohio town with just over 4,000 residents. She apparently had been shot in th...
