Daniel Gene-Vincent Sorensen

Daniel Gene-Vincent Sorensen was a registered sexual offender, his father claims that his sex offender status was the result of a relationship with a underage girl. His mother claims that the status hung over his head like a cloud. Whether it was that status which lead up to the recent discovery of his beheaded and burned body is not currently known.

Tazewell County State's Attorney Stu Umholtz says the 26-year-old was convicted in 2000 and was placed on 12 months probation for having sexual conduct with a 13 -17 year old, a misdemeanor offense.

According to the father, the 2000 conviction was over a relationship he'd had when he was 17 (meaning it took around 3 years to make it from criminal act to a conviction):

Jim Sorensen said the sex offender conviction occurred when his son was 17 and dating a 14-year-old girl that he met on the Internet. Daniel Sorenson thought the girl was 16 and went to Illinois to meet her.

He was last seen alive on Wen night, he worked odd jobs doing landscaping and construction, and the pickup truck which was in his possession (currently registered to someone else) was missing until police located it in the parking lot of a store late Friday. Police have no suspects, no clear motives, and little to give out in way of information to the public.

His headless body was found Thursday morning by a sewer and water department crew at the end of a cul-de-sac, and his head is still unaccounted for.

Police agencies investigating the death of Daniel G. Sorensen, 26, of River Rouge, have served six search warrants since Friday, collected vast amounts of evidence and talked to “persons of interest” in the case, and Northville Township Public Safety Director John Werth said Saturday he believes a case will be presented to the Wayne County Prosecutor, perhaps by Monday.

While he wouldn’t confirm whether anyone was in custody, he didn’t deny it, either. Werth said he’s confident the case would come together.

“We have all the parties, and we have the evidence, and now we need to just put it together,” Werth told the Observer Saturday.

He loves me, he loves me not, oh what the heck he loves me...

It seems to resemble a bit of a 3rd grade crush. Mag said first grade ... but it's really less annoying that having my ponytail pulled. He loves me... after all, he keeps linking to me . He loves me not... evidently that's why he uses my comments out of context and twists my words... he loves me, because clearly he likes to "poke the bear" (That 70's Show quote). Yes, I just referred to myself as a bear. A lot less hairy, but no less scary. Because anyone that thinks you should be locked up for the rest of your life is indeed scary. Especially when she likes to go around telling everyone how demented you are... and how she'd like to see you locked up forever. And even more scary when you know that it's the truth she speaks. And Lindsay, he is demented. And he should be locked up forever. And, well it seems that he is a fan of mine. Yep, that sick lil monkey can't help himself. He reads this here blog (which is a hint that you should share your thoughts...

Florida Sex Offender Registry

Reading the news today, I was taken back to see that the Florida Sex Offender registry was being criticized. Having had the chance to look at it previously, I had always found it rather informative, and well organized. The issue that many are having with it now wouldn't be noticed by the occasional browser on the site. Which makes it even worse. A review of the FSR has found some rather unsettling statistics: The News-Press analyzed the Florida Department of Law Enforcement database of 36,306 sex offenders and found: • 9,205 of them are incarcerated • 7,037 have run away or can't be found • 824 have been deported; and • 516 are dead. Of the 15,573 sex offenders listed as released and not on parole or probation, only 11,355 of those actually live in Florida. Sex offender registries can only be usefully, and only fully do what they where designed to do when they are updated, maintained and monitored continuously. When you are relying on the SO registries to monitors how safe your...
