David Lee Vogel evidently liked to use the 'text message' or sms feature of his cell phone. Unfortunately, it seems that the convicted sexual offender also liked to use the service in order to send sexually explicit material to underage teenage girls.

Shortly after a jury was seated for the trial of a sex offender accused of sending obscene text messages and pictures to the cell phones of two teens, the defendant pleaded guilty.

David Lee Vogel, 46, was identified as the sender of the messages through his cell phone service provider. Investigators said that Vogel sent dozens of vulgar messages and obscene images.


Investigators believe that Vogel would randomly dial numbers in an attempt to find young girls, and used this method to make contact with the two under aged victims. Along with these charges, Vogel is still facing charges involving an adult woman to whom he sexually harassed. Regardless of the outcome of those charges- he'll be spending at least some time in jail thanks to his guilty plea. The judge sentenced him to 18 years in prison.

Having had the chance to look at it previously, I had always found it rather informative, and well organized. The issue that many are having with it now wouldn't be noticed by the occasional browser on the site. Which makes it even worse. I was reading the illegal immigrant news this morning... you know, all about the Spanish National anthem... and all about their big rally May 2... and I started thinking. Jamie Bolin was last seen alive on Wednesday, while at the local library... and although she was reported missing when she failed to return home, no Amber Alert was issued until Thursday night. I understand the need to maintain certain criteria should be met when issuing an Amber Alert... I realise the importance of attempting to ensure that the public doesn't become conditioned to the alerts and slowly begin to ignore them... and yet, something in me is completely bothered that a 10 year old can go missing without people being informed of it.
