Kenneth Richey

Source: WLIO RICHEY TO GRAND JURY IN PUTNAM COUNTYA Scotland native whose death penalty conviction was overturned after 18 years on Ohio's death row will face a new attempt to be charged in the death of a 2-year-old girl, a county prosecutor announced Thursday. The decision means that , who has U.S.-British citizenship, likely will remain in jail while the prosecutor seeks a new trial. Supporters in Britain have campaigned for his release after documentary filmmakers raised numerous inconsistencies surrounding the case and investigation. Richey's story drew the attention of the prime minister of England and the support of Pope John Paul II. Putnam County Prosecutor Gary Lammers said he thinks there is enough evidence to seek new charges against Richey and that he will ask a grand jury to return indictments against him. If so, Richey will be returned to Putnam County to await trial, by September 1st. Richey's brother Steven says he welcomes the chance for a new trial---that

New to me article on Mike Luebrecht

Okay, see I was right. Amazing. Source Toledo Blade FORT JENNINGS, Ohio - Michael Luebrecht was incredibly calm as he phoned 911 and said, "I drowned my son in the bathtub." The Putnam County man remained calm as he followed the dispatcher's directions for trying to revive 13-month-old Joel Luebrecht and waited for rescue workers. When they arrived nine minutes later, they found the child lying on a bed, lifeless. Despite efforts at CPR, Joel was later pronounced dead at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. "There was no 'state of mind.' He was very calm," said Sheriff James Beutler, who was among the first to arrive at the Luebrecht home in this small Putnam County village a few miles north of Delphos. We'll probably never know why he did it other than we know it was something he thought about, planned, and carried out," Sheriff Beutler said. Mr. Luebrecht, 37, was being held in the Ottawa County jail on a charge of aggravated murder. During an

Do I Even have to say Anything about this one???

Source: Yahoo News MINNEAPOLIS - A 10-year-old boy who was attacked by a lion and tiger last week suffered a brain injury and severed spinal cord in the mauling — injuries that have left the child a quadriplegic and dependent on a respirator, his family said Tuesday. Russell Lala was attacked last Wednesday during a visit with the animals' owner. "Russell is a fighter and, while he is still in serious condition, he is communicating with us and we see his strong spirit coming through," his parents Nick and Roseanne Lala said in a statement. The child and his father were visiting body shop owner Chuck Mock, who owns 11 exotic cats and one bear. When Mock opened the cage, the tiger jumped out and attacked the boy. While Mock was pulling the animal away, the lion bit the child. Along with the brain injury and severed spinal cord, Russell sustained numerous facial fractures, according to the parents' statement. They said he faces a long rehabilitation. Phone calls Tuesday

Former Wapakoneta Police Chief- And Child Pornography

It may be true that holding public officials to a higher standard than we do "normal" people is unfair. After all, they are just people too. Right? I mean, how many men have affairs without the whole Clinton situation happening? But under certain cases, we should hold them to a higher law. In some cases, they should have to pay above and beyond what the "normal" person would. Because, we hold them on a higher level of trust. We tell out kids that the police are "safe" people. If they get lost, find a police man, if they need help, call a police man. So it worries us, makes us second guess ourselves when we find that the bad guy is one of those we have been teaching our kids to trust. This is the case of David L. Harrison, the former Wapak police chief. The man at the very top of command of a people that we have come to entrust the safety of our children with when they are in danger. Never should they symbolize the very thing we as parents strive to keep ou

Police: Man May Have Molested Thousands -

Police are looking into a man whom they say may have molested more than 36000 children. Full Story HERE You have to wonder what kind of sick pervert would ever get gratification by molesting a child. And then it hits you... One deserving to be slowly killed over and over and over again. My idea would include reviving him again each time and starting a painful death procedure over again. And repeating the process. First- a few good clips with a blunt object to some body parts. Because, if you are unable to keep it away from an innocent child.. You really shouldn't be in possession of it to begin with. At 63, and with 36000 children who may be victims, it equals more than one child a day from the time he was born. Plus on around 14000 days, he molested two children each of those days. I don't think the term sick bastard is quite fitting enough for this man. I do not think there is an actual legal punishment that would do him justice. Watch Video News Report HERE "Source The

Just What is "GOOD"?

Since recent events have turned my eyes towards children and the horrifying crimes their parents are committing against them, I have done a lot of thinking about "good" parents. Really what are "good" parents? What makes good so much better than just being a parent. I decided to first determine what good was. I mean, every day we SAY or THINK something is good- but maybe it's really not. Maybe that meatloaf was just so-so and not really good like we thought. Maybe the last movie we seen wasn't good, it was just like all the rest of the movies we have seen in the last five years. Then it comes to parents. Is a good parent one that works 16 hour days to be able to provide for their kids that they never get to see? Surely their sacrifice shouldn't make them a BAD parent... but does it really make them a good one? What consists of a GOOD parent?? The fact that you don't beat your kids is great... but does it hold water to the good parent test? First lets

Yes, I too watched the M Jackson verdict with disbelief. Of course, the thought that a mother would let her child be around him just crawls under my skin like scabies laying eggs. Eww. That's just gross. But then again the idea of a mother willingly doing that- is gross too. Although I would more categorize it as being gross neglect, gross inadequacy as a parental figure, gross display of a utterly stupid lack of common sense etc. I really would like to hit that woman up side the head with something. (Blame that on someones mental illness) I am not surprised at the verdict. I mean, lets be honest when has the famous and guilty ever had to accept full responsibility for what they do? Other than Martha Stewart, who I think was found guilty more on the fact that she was a woman and that overruled her famousness giving her less of a chance of being innocent. Poor MJ, it must be hard to have to live life with people accusing you of molesting the kids you've been molesting. Yes, all

Child Mauled by Dogs, Can we blame the mother?

This is disturbing. I am currently lost for words to describe the feeling I have over this. Which as you may have noticed- is not a normal reaction for me. The Lima News column added even more anger to my fire when they quoted her as saying "It's Nicky time to go, When you're born your destined to go and this was his time" Are you kidding me? Am I to really believe that his time to go included being bitten to death by a dog? How about we place the mother in a room with a few killer dogs and call it her time to go? A persons time to go as she puts it- SHOULD not include being killed by your parents (referencing the ML case) or by the lack of parenting skills and common sense of your parents (referencing this case). I have a firm belief that as the government regulates the use of almost everything in our lives- they should add to it the regulation of reproductive organs in humans. Some people should never be around children, let alone be able to consider themselves pare

Anonymous and the City

Your correct in the mentality of small towns. When the woman in Texas killed all of her kids, I think it was five of them, by drowning them in a tub (interesting isn't it?) everyone around was believing in seeking full justice for those kids. Most people sat back relieved that it could never happen here. And now that is has- well it couldn't possibly be his fault. No, it couldn't be that he is responsible- he has to be mentally ill. Not that I don;t believe he is. Most likely he truly does have a mental illness, I have never doubted that he does. My issue comes from whether or not the illness is responsible for his actions. Your right about the bad things good people. This is not a case of a bad thing happening to a good person. This is a bad person, doing a bad thing. On a personal note, I have tried for years to come to have a better understanding of those around me living with mental disorders. Watching how many have treated my dad, is why I have become so offended by M

Latest ON LUEBRECHT

The Lima News Report For Today - Click for link HERE OTTAWA — A Fort Jennings man pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity Tuesday to the drowning of his 13-month-old son. Michael G. Luebrecht, 36, sat observantly at the defendant’s table in Putnam County Common Pleas Court on Tues-day. He looked around the courtroom to see the assorted television cameras and photographers standing behind the plaintiff’s side. He also turned to his assembled family behind him, including his wife, Amy. Judge Randall Basinger approved a pair of mental evaluations of Luebrecht. Putnam County Prosecutor Gary Lam-mers will use Court Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Toledo, while the defense will find another expert. “We’d like to search for our own evaluation, for someone who understands this particular mental illness,” said Lue-brecht’s attorney, Bill Kluge. A friend of the family said a week ago that Luebrecht suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder, which took him off the job for a medi

I have issues with the people next door if you would rather talk about that. Now to your comments. Yes the reason this wouldn't happen in my family is because they are good people. I understand your feeling on wanting a big city. I took off to live in Orlando for a few years, my family went nuts (okay they really already where but you know what I mean) Life in a little town is so different and the people here seem so in tangled in everyone's life. Everyone knowing your name is not always a good thing. I only moved back because I could no longer afford the phone bill due to nightly calls "yes mom, I am still alive" "no dad, no one followed me home" "yes I know how to call 911 if I get in trouble" "yes it really is safe enough without 10,000 locks on the door" type of calls. I am glad to hear that SOMEONE supports my opinion on ML. Although I am saddened by your own circumstances. My mother would assure you that for everything there is a reason. I have not come to believe that. When you have someone such as yourself reading a story such as ML's, it hardens the heart against those that would not treasure the small l

OCD ONLINE - What is O.C.D.? For Mike Luebrecht Supporters

OCD ONLINE - What is O.C.D.? "Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder, first and foremost. It is not a thought disorder. Although the thoughts associated with OCD are bizarre, they are not at all the focal point of the therapeutic objective. The essential features of OCD are recurrent obsessions (thoughts) that create an awareness of alarm or threat. (e.g., "I might get AIDS from the germs on that door knob;" "Since I had the thought of killing my baby, I might be capable of doing it;" "If I don't pick up that Band-Aid someone else might get sick from it, and I would hold myself culpable;" etc.). Persons typically engage in some avoidance or escape response in reaction to the obsessive threat (I typically refer to the obsessive threat as a "spike."). Obsessions take the form of either a perceived threat of physical harm to oneself or others or, in some cases, more of a metaphysical or spiritual threat to oneself, other

Isn't that taking some responsibility? You know nothing about the process of medication for mental illness. You appearantly did not read he was off work while doctors were working on his medication. So, he took resposibility for his actions & was seeking help, actions which you just said you support, yet you continue to speak your ignorance of the situation.Everything is not as cut & dry out here in the real world as it is in your world."let me explain why this sort of thing would never happen in my family. Although we have people suffering from various forms of mental illness... we are all good parents.&

Response to Child Killer Post

I received this in my inbox today (I do welcome all thoughts on my blog, even stupid ones like this) Appalled said... It always amazes me how people can have an opinion on something that they know nothing about. Have you ever met Michael Luebrecht or his family? Do you know anything about him other than what you have read in the paper? I already know the answer to aforementioned questions. They are a big fat NO. I know this, because if you did know him you would have kept your mouth shut before writing the absurd statement that you did. Fortunately enough, the local news does not have all of the details in this case, or any case for that matter. They do not know the intricacies that are involved and as a result you, nor anyone else has enough information to even being to formulate an opinion for the matter at hand. I don’t even want to waste my time explaining the situation to a person such as you because it would be a squander of my time. Perhaps if something like this were to happen
