Every now and then, I get the chance to read something that really sums up everything I think. Today I had one of those chances. Keep in mind- we have laws requiring some people to report suspect child abuse. We have laws that make bartenders who knowingly serve someone who is drunk more drinks responsible if the drunk goes out and kills someone on the way home. We have laws that say if you enable someone to commit a crime, you can be asked to defend yourself in a court of law. This... just follows that perfect logic of making all parties step back and rethink their position before allowing a demented sexual predator go free with a quick rubber stamp that declares them 'safe' 'fixed' or unlikely to offend very often. Christi Ann Zelek was innocently teaching a class on early childhood development at Union Grove High School when some meany cops busted into the room and arrested her. Just not fair huh? After all, this professionally trained school official shouldn't be faulted over something as small as her grandkids. And, to be frank- when I say 'small' I'm being literal. Clayton County police charged the grandmother and parents of 13-month-old twin boys with child abuse after discovering the children weigh less than 10 pounds each — far below the 27-39 pound range for children that age. The grandmother, Christi Ann Zelek, is the special education coordinator for Henry County schools. Clayton County police Chief Jeff Turner said she is also charged with failing to report the child abuse as state law requires education employees to do. Okay, I actually love em. I mean, where else can you find such an entertaining amount of people, who are hired by normal folks to lie, thieve and waste time? It's completely amazing- and almost as interesting as the crime section of the news- you never know who's going to be the next one busted soliciting sex from someone they shouldn't, or convicted for some crime while they cry to the voters that they are 'sorry'. The alledged possible suspect seems to be shaping up as Troy Stanley, a married man (20 years or so) with at least one child (who is insisting that the 'bomb' is just a couple of flares, and his dad just has some medical issues). After a recent incident, police are now searching for a sexual predator: Thursday afternoon at 3:30pm an 8-year-old boy was walking home on Augusta near Sinsheimer Park when he was approached by a male driving a black four door car. The male asked the child if he wanted any money. The child declined and the male got out of his car and took his wallet out as if to show the child that he really had some money to give him. The child continued to decline the male suspect’s offers of money and went directly to his nearby residence where he told his father what had happened. The male suspect is described only as an average sized college-age white male wearing a black jacket. The vehicle he was driving was described as a black four door that was not new. There currently are hundreds, if not thousands of people all over the United States longing for a child to raise and love as their own. And, while not perfect- almost every county in the US has a child services program designed to care for those children that some parents are either unwilling or unable to care for. As the reader who forwarded me the story said, "If you don't want your babies anymore give them to someone who will love them." Sadly, Jeanette Michelle Hawes decided that rather than give her children a chance at a life in a loving home- or even giving her children a chance at having a life at all... she'd just kill them. A former Big Brother freed on bail while on trial for allegedly victimizing several boys was rearrested during the hearing after police alleged he continued to contact kids on an Internet chat line despite strict release orders not to communicate with youth under 18. Now the moms of the alleged victims want to know why the judge granted bail to the accused child molester a second time given the fresh batch of allegations, including violations of the previous bail. Really? Bail TWICE? Who the hell installed the revolving door in the jailhouse? They ought to be locked up for aiding and abetting.

Turns out, Daniel Gene-Vincent Sorensen 's status as a sex offender had nothing to do with his recent murder. Neither did the small fact that at the time he owed money to people. Rather, the 26 year old was killed, mutilated, and burned because two delinquents had too much free time on their hands. Two teens have been charged in the brutal decapitation death of a registered sex offender in Michigan whose headless body was left to burn in a subdivision in what prosecutors are calling a "thrill kill." A thrill kill. "They lured him in the garage where they prepared a space to kill him," Worthy said. A tarp had been spread on the garage floor, and Sorenson was stabbed multiple times in the back. His head was sawed off and his body wrapped in the tarp, authorities said. There, on a tarp they allegedly spread out for the attack, they slit Sorensen's throat with a knife and repeatedly stabbed him before cutting off his head with a hacksaw, prosecutors said. They a

Daniel Gene-Vincent Sorensen was a registered sexual offender, his father claims that his sex offender status was the result of a relationship with a underage girl. His mother claims that the status hung over his head like a cloud. Whether it was that status which lead up to the recent discovery of his beheaded and burned body is not currently known. Tazewell County State's Attorney Stu Umholtz says the 26-year-old was convicted in 2000 and was placed on 12 months probation for having sexual conduct with a 13 -17 year old, a misdemeanor offense. According to the father, the 2000 conviction was over a relationship he'd had when he was 17 (meaning it took around 3 years to make it from criminal act to a conviction): Jim Sorensen said the sex offender conviction occurred when his son was 17 and dating a 14-year-old girl that he met on the Internet. Jacob Randles was shot by police. But, don't start feeling to sorry for him just yet. It seems that he was at a party and sexually assaulted two women there, when police arrived to investigate, they found the rapist holding a gun to a woman's head. After hours of negotiation, the SWAT team moved in, shooting Randles and rescuing the hostage. Neither woman was seriously hurt. The officer involved, a 20-year veteran of the Phoenix Police Department, is on standard paid administrative leave. Randles is a level-three sex offender, which means he's considered at high risk to re-offend. High risk to offend again. But, let's just let them back out into society and wait to do anything until they commit another crime. Anyone else tired of being reactive, and more interested in starting to be proactive?

There has been an Amber Alert set for a 14 year old NC boy. Police say the boy was able to contact someone via his cell phone after two while men assaulted him at a community center and then abducted him. Derrick Taylor. is a 14-year-old American Indian male, 5' 5", 124 pounds. He has sandy hair, and green eyes. He was last seen wearing a green hat, green shoes, green shirt and blue jeans. The suspects are two white males who beat him up and threw him in the back of a gold-colored vehicle. FoxNews (TV, sorry no link) just reported that he indicated that although he was unaware of the location where he was, he believed he was in a shed or storage building. NBC 17 is reporting that the Amber Alert has been canceled, although no information is coming out from police as to his whereabouts, or condition.

As mentioned before, Kelsey Peterson - former school teacher and current "baby gurl" to 13 year old Fernando Rodriguez took the child and ran off to Mexico. In a new update to the case, as Peterson has been arrested and the boys has been turned over to relatives. Peterson was in FBI custody and transported back to the U.S., and the boy was released to relatives in Mexico, Waterman said. "I'm really relieved, especially that the individuals are well and unharmed," Waterman said. His client, a former priest who viciously attacked a woman in his church office was sentenced to 4 to 12 years in state prison in connection with the attack . Prosecutors dropped other charges, including attempted murder, sexual assault and kidnapping, that could have resulted in a sentence of life in prison with parole. The duration of his sentence hinges on whether he is approved for parole. In court Thursday, Chaanine denied he sexually assaulted the woman and offered an apology and a rambling statement about his feelings for her before he was led from the courtroom in handcuffs, court information officer Michael Sommermeyer said. "He loved her," Chaanine's court-appointed lawyer, Jeff Banks, said later. "His emotions got the better of him. It was the biggest mistake of his life, and he's going to have to come to grips with it."

A mother seemed to have misplaced her pot, at least until an aide for a school teacher found it in the backpack of the mothers four year old child. The mother of the boy admitted the pot was hers. More drugs were found in her west-side home, according to police. The woman has two children, who were both put into child protective services after their mothers arrest.
