America's Most Wanted has profiled David John Sprong Jr., and actively been reviewing his case in hopes of capturing this sexual predator. Sprong was wanted for Lascivious Conduct With A Child Under 14, and Unlawful Flight To Avoid Prosecution in California, after he fled while out on a $1 million bond in Sacramento, Calif. Sprong is a convicted sex offender, having been convicted of rape and lewd and lascivious acts, and is currently charged in connection with several molestation cases involving young girls. He was facing a life sentence, if he was convicted under California law as a habitual sex offender. So he took his family and ran. "A sexual predator doesn't need a crowbar or an open window to get into your child's bedroom." With that chilling visual, Michigan State Police trooper Mike Sites instantly quieted the chatter in the Bridgman High School Performing Arts Center, where some 50 parents gathered recently to hear his program on Internet Safety for Parents. Sites, a community service officer stationed at the state police Bridgman Post on Red Arrow Highway, walked the parents through an array of dangers that their children face daily in any typical online excursion, from harassment to bullying to predatory "grooming" to actual physical molestation.

On Saturday, a series of women were attacked and fondled in a parking lot of a store, shortly before those attacks, an 11 year old girl who had been out shopping with her mother was "was grabbed when she entered a supermarket". After the attacks, the man responsible lead police on a car chase, which resulted in him hitting another vehicle. But, we shouldn't worry too much, and we shouldn't blame the attacker- because his dad says he is mentally ill, and should have never been released from a psych ward .

He took a plea deal that gave him 20 years in prison, plus five of probation for sexually abusing a child, with "special conditions" (those being that the child was under 13 during most of the abuse). However, the judge forgot to mention that the deal came with the five years in prison, and the rapist had a change of heart about his plea deal, so he appealed. The best part? Well, the appeal judges agreed with him, and tossed out the deal. I know, you're wondering just what makes this good... well: If Cortes simply hoped to get the state to strike a similar deal without the parole tack-on, he miscalculated, said Prosecutor Bill Mason and his aide, Oebker. Circumstances have changed, they said. "If he wants to undo this deal, fine," Oebker said. "We have a victim who is very motivated to testify -- ready, willing and able to testify." When the mother of an 8 year old girl put her on an airplane, sending her off to visit her grandmother in June she may have thought her biggest worry was whether the child would get lonely on the long flight. She surely never expected that the little girl would be sitting next to the likes of Ronald Evan Mays . According to the child, the peaceful flight was abruptly interrupted when Mays pulled her legs onto his lap and began rubbing her thigh. The child also stated that at one point, Mays leaned across her to look out the window, and rubbed his arm across her chest, and frequently during the flight would "touched his pants". Mays' attorney claimed it was someone else on the flight -- which did not have assigned seating -- who committed the abuse. The girl picked his picture out of a lineup and a woman on the flight identified Mays as the one who was sitting next to the girl. It would have been any mothers nightmare- an innocent day turned into a horrify discovering, where for once all the "mother skills" in the world couldn't do anything to protect your child. But, in fact- that wasn't the case at all for Liz Carroll. Police believe that Liz Carroll, and her husband David, were never really worried that day in the park, because they knew the truth of Marcus' whereabouts the entire time. He wasn't "missing from the park", he was "in a better place" because just days before they had bound the little child in a blanket, wrapping him as tightly as possible before securing the blanket with tape; and then left him in a closet... just as they had many times before. The difference, and most likely the one aspect of that particular time, was that when they

They lost the children they abused, had a trial and were sentenced to jail. Two years is NOT enough, it will not make what these poor children endured less traumatic, nor will it even come close to being actual "justice". First off, locking children in cages is not a way of keeping them safe- it's a means of abusing them. Second, if you actually believe that you have to go to that extreme to ensure your children are safe because you are unable to find any other means of keeping them safe- then you're not only an idiot, but you also do not deserve to be a parent. Those are the words heard by a 10 year old girl as she was about to be sexually assaulted last week, by George Lynn Perez. The little girl had arrived at the school 15 minutes earlier than the doors were to have opened (she arrived at 7, doors open at 7:15) and was waiting to catch another bus to her school when she was attacked by Perez, a Level 3 sexual offender. The Morning News: She was grabbed from behind, her mouth was covered, and she was dragged into a space between a shed and a gymnasium, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Friday by Rogers Police Capt. The alleged Baytown rapist who police say has been stalking and sexually attacking multiple men in Texas, which I spoke to you about before , seems to be facing more charges, and even more are expected in the unusual case. Prosecutors have charged Keith Chester Hill with six total charges involving the sexual assaults of young men in the Baytown area. He is charged with three counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of aggravated kidnapping and one count of sexual assault. These charges are from two of the five cases that Hill is facing. There are three more cases the detectives are working on and everyone is expecting more charges to be filed. So far, authorities say that he has been very cooperative and has even confessed. "He has given our detectives a confession in the cases that we have and he's given them some details about the incidents," said Lt. John Martin with the Harris County Sheriff's Department. "For example, he told our detectives that he had stal

Why it is that 10 days after Timothy Byars was indicted on four counts of rape by the Knox County Grand Jury, police had to return to him home and arrest him, this time for the sexual abuse of his first victims sister? I mean, I know that it takes time to investigate, and therefore there are likely to be delays between indictments, so that's not what the confusion is about. My question is why this monster was at home- rather than in jail when the second arrest was made. I hate bail.

Jury selection in Miami has begun for John Couey - the man accused of kidnapping, raping and killing nine year old Jessica Lunsford. I know, a jury should be unbiased. It should consist of people willing to hear all of the evidence, able to listen intently to both sides of the case, and then come to a reasonable, and legally binding decision of guilt or innocence based upon the facts presented, and the evidence shown. I know this, I expect this, I want this... And yet- all I really care about is the ability of these 12 jurors to quickly agree upon giving him a sentence of death, the speediness of the courts to hear all of his appeals, and finally- I hope his last few moments on earth are painfully unforgiving.

A few months back, I was out shopping with the little ones, and we were just leaving the store when I saw to older gentlemen standing off to the side of the exit. Late last month, I shared that the man authorities believed to be one of the most prolific serial child molesters in the US was sentenced to 150 years in prison. This week, his roommate Frederick Everts- whose arrest actually lead to Dean Schwartzmiller's arrest- received his own long term sentence for the molestation of three underage boys. If the two of them happen to out live their sentences, Everts will require Schwartzmiller to hang around waiting for Everts for an extra 650 years- as Everts was sentenced to 800 years . Frederick Everts, convicted of molesting several San Jose children despite his protestation that he was legally insane at the time, was sentenced this morning to 800 years in prison. Everts, 36, will likely appeal his conviction. A year ago, he was convicted on 15 child molestation counts; among his victims was a 3-year-old. Disney may be famous for telling children's tales that always have a happy ending, and Belle may have been charming and beautiful enough to tame the Beast in their version of the fairytale- but it seems the real life version isn't as child friendly : Matthew Wendland, 20, of Orlando, was arrested early Friday morning after his roommates tipped off authorities, according to FOX affiliate WOFL. He is charged with 51 counts of possessing material that depicts a child in sexual performance and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday. Sgt. Richard Mankewich of the Orange County Sheriff's Department said authorities are questioning Wendland about any possible inappropriate contact he might have had with children at the theme parks, WOFL reported. But officials have no evidence he has done anything directly to hurt children.
