He used his special rating system to alert other pedophile "girl lovers" as to which community events offered the best chances to see little girls. Erlich Anthony Coker was serving several sentences on a variety of sexually related charges when he escaped from a Georgia prison. During his time on the run, he broke into a home where he raped the women that lived there and stole a vehicle. He was captured and sentenced to death by the jury that convicted him. This single case would have a lasting effect on the laws regarding the death penalty. Coker appealed to the Supreme Court of Georgia who upheld the sentence. In 1977 the US Supreme Court would take the position that the Eighth Amendment to the United States Constitution forbid the death penalty from being applied to a case of rape where the victim survives and is an adult at the time of the crime. Nevada police are on the lookout for a sexual predator: Henderson police say a man resembling this sketch stalked a 13 year old girl on her way home from school, broke into her home and raped her. It happened in a neighborhood at Green Valley Parkway and Paseo Verde last month. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, over 6 feet tall, with a medium complexion, brown eyes and black-straight hair. It's not that I don't understand the right for the accused to face their accuser in a court of law. I get that sometimes- a victim is going to be required to testify as to what happened to them. It's part of the entire "right to a fair trial" issue. I understand it- I just don't always like it. Now, in defense of defense attorneys- most tend to tread lightly when it comes to questioning a child about an allegation of abuse. Most, but not all. They tend to understand the emotional trauma that a child endures while testifying, and a good lawyer will remain mindful of that while still attempting to give their client the best representation as possible. It's not always that way. Sometimes, a defense lawyer will go above and beyond what is needed to present a "reason of doubt". And, even worse- sometimes the accused represents themselves. Some of these people shouldn't have pets, let alone kids. Take for instance, Christine Cole, 32 and her sister Judy Chamberlain, 33 . Both were recently charged with second-degree cruelty to a child. In the late sixties a series of grisly murders captivated the attention, and put a sudden fear in the lives of women in Michigan. It all started on July 10, 1967 when a college student from Eastern Michigan went missing. Her body was found weeks later, or most of it anyhow. She had multiple stab wounds and was missing both her hands and her feet. A year later in Ann Arbor, Joan Schell was found murdered, a total count indicated that she had been stabbed 47 times. In March of 1969, A law student named Jane Mixer was found murdered in Denton Cemetery. She had been badly shot, with a pair of hose tied tightly around her neck. A book was laying neatly beside her. Weeks later Dawn Basom's body was found. The 13 year old had been strangled to death. Next, Alice Kalom was found dead, with her throat cut, a gun shot to the head and multiple stab wounds. 120 years that is. A former Pass Christian police investigator faces up to 120 years in prison after being found guilty of sexually abusing a child. A Harrison County jury deliberated nearly seven hours Friday before finding Tom Pustay guilty on five of the six counts he faced. According to the victim, whose family was friends with Pustay, the abuse went on for seven years starting when she was 9. During questioning, Pustay's wife said he had admitted to having sex with the child when she was 12 or 13. His defense claims she made the statement under "panic". Pustay worked in law enforcement for 23 years before he resigned after being arrested in March 2005. Pustay denied the accusations and said he lied to Harrison County sheriff's investigators about giving the child a flavored condom. Initially, he told investigators he gave her the condom because he knew she liked to play with them. The packaged condom was submitted as evidence. Pustay testified he gave it to her f

Larry Akins sat in court and admitted his guilt. He wrote a letter saying all the "right things": that he was sorry, that he wished he could take it all back, that he was ashamed. The letter might have conveyed what he was suppose to feel, but the news reports that as he stood in front of the court, he was motionless, " If Larry Akins felt sorry about his actions, he didn't show it. He stood motionless at a hearing Monday in Crawford County, but there were tears from mothers who sent their daughters to the home-based daycare operated by his wife. " Akins plead guilty to using his wife's daycare as a hunting ground for victims, the charges against him included: 11 rape charges and 9 sexual assault charges. His victims ranged in age from three to eight. When 19 year old Shane Edward Lee Pedal heard about the 17 year old sex offender, his gut reaction might have been one many of us share- disgust. But, what Pedal and the 16 year old girl who informed him of the sex offender status did crosses all lines of acceptable behavior. The 17-year-old victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also had a cigarette stubbed out on him and was force-fed cigarette ends and ash, Leeds Crown Court heard. The teenager was labelled "a dirty paedophile" by attacker Shane Edward Lee Pedal, 19, of Cave Crescent, Lupset, who then squirted him with a fire extinguisher. A 16-year-old girl, who knew about the victim's sexual shame and told Pedal of it, also joined in the prolonged and violent attack. She beat him with a hand-brush and kicked him as did Pedal. Especially since it was described as being "the maximum". It's not really a sentence, just sort of one. Prosecutors say they would seek the maximum one-year jail term for Lorelei J. Corpuz, 30, who entered her plea Wednesday. Guilty plea or not, this women should be seeing the inside of a cell for MUCH longer than a year. Sometimes I'm ashamed of what we call justice. While nothing will ever amount to an even payback for the pain suffered at the hands of a sexual abuser- I am all for holding then accountable for their actions to the fullest degree of the law. That includes suing the bastards for the medical expenses that add up while trying to help a child deal with the abuse they have been put through. Police in New York are looking for a teenager who they say followed a young boy into a building and molested him around 9pm on Monday night. Police released this surveillance video of a young man they say is responsible for a sexual attack on a little boy. The suspect allegedly followed the 8-year-old boy into the Washington Heights apartment building where he lives, on Monday. The boy claims the man cornered him in a stairwell, and fondled him. [...] Investigators say they want people to be on the look out for a Hispanic man, between 16-and-18 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 150 pounds, wearing a pink or red hooded sweatshirt. Pennsylvania has made new changes to it's laws concerning who is required to report suspected child sexual abuse: Beginning May 28, psychologists, teachers and school counselors will be required to report any suspicions of sexual abuse against children to police or to a children and youth agency. In the past, only professionals were required to report abuse if the alleged victim was a client. Personally, I'm not sure why they waited so long. And, I wish that they had included more people in the new law. I believe that every person who has reason to suspect sexual abuse, or physical abuse of a child should be required by law to report it. I don't care if you are a teacher- or a relative, if you have a strong reason to think that someone is hurting a child it is your moral obligation to step up and do something about it. But, of course that's just because I tend to believe that if you fail to stop it... you're just as bad as the one doing it. To many children are lost
